The Rock makes an electrifying return to WWE Raw

Los Angeles - The Rock made an electrifying return to WWE on Monday night.

The wrestler-turned-Hollywood actor - whose real name is Dwayne Johnson - got back into the WWE Raw ring for the first time since January 2015 and The People's Champion was a huge hit with the crowd as he made jokes aplenty at the other fighters' expense on an "electric" evening of entertainment.

His return to the weekly TV show got off to a hilarious start as he pulled up at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami in a huge truck and immediately set about mocking The Miz.

He joked the wrestler looked like a "a blind nun" in his sunglasses and sleeveless leather top and ordered him: "Do me a favour, park The Rock's truck," before chucking him the keys.

The Rock then encountered Big Show and reminded him of the time he defeated the huge star in Royal Rumble 2000, but admitted his massive opponent "should've won" that night.

He continued to mock him further by joking the Big Show would've been the star of movie Scorpion King - the 2002 action movie in which Johnson played the titular character in his feature film debut - if he had triumphed in that brawl.

The Rock quipped: "How different your life would've been if you'd won. You know what's crazy ... the director of The Mummy Returns watched that Royal Rumble and said, 'Whoever wins this Royal Rumble, I'm going to cast as the Scorpion King.'"

A disgruntled-looking Big Show replied: "Really?"

In a nod to his other movies, Johnson joked: "Yeah, that should've been you. You should've been the Scorpion King. You could've been the one hunting Vin Diesel's candy ass down in Fast and Furious, you could've been the one in a helicopter saving your family in the world's biggest earthquake.

"You could've been breaking box office records, man, but hey, such as life."

The Big Show's face fell and he crushed the laptop he was holding with his bare hands, much to the delight of The Rock, who said: "That was awesome!"

It wasn't just Miz and Big Show who fell foul of The Rock's mocking on his WWE return as he later bumped into wrestler Rusev's fiancée Lana.

Jokingly referring to a night in his hotel room in Brooklyn after a Monday Night Raw, he reminded her: "You told me you didn't want to be with Rusev anymore. You said he was big, he was hairy, he smelled like rotten testicles and I'm like, 'OK, let's just talk.' And we did those special exercises."

Unbeknown to The Rock, a riled Rusev turned up behind him looking angry, and his mood didn't improve when Johnson joked the wrestler will no doubt have a great marriage because Lana is "flexible as all hell ... it's amazing!"

After poking fun at everyone he met on his way to the ring, he finally made it to where the action happens - much to the crowd's sheer delight.

He entered the arena to his usual "can you smell what The Rock is cooking" theme and lapped up the crowd's attention before normal service resumed and he set about destroying everything in this path.

The Rock joined forces with his cousins Usos to lay the smackdown on The New Day, on which he pulled off his signature move, The Rock Bottom, before ending things by landing his finishing move, The People's Elbow, on Xavier Woods.

After the event, The Rock took to his Instagram account to share a picture of himself standing on the ropes and saluting the crowd.

He added the caption "An electric and unforgettable night. #ThankYouWWEUniverse #1Luv #PeoplesChamp4L #Miami (sic)"

The Rock's last appearance in the WWE ring came at 2015 Royal Rumble in Philadelphia last January when he saved his cousin Roman Reigns from a Kane and Big Show attack.
