Johannesburg - Pop the champers and put on the party hats as three of our favourite new TV shows, fantasy series Westworld and comedy series' Divorce and Insecure, have just been given the thumbs up for second seasons.
Broadcaster HBO told Variety, “All three series have done exactly what we’d hoped in terms of connecting with audiences and raising the questions the creators set out to raise.”
Each of the shows were renewed for 10 episodes and there are no plans for major casting moves or producer changes, which is a welcome sign of stability.
The shows
Westworld, which airs on Monday evenings on M-Net Edge (DStv 102) at 21:00, is set in a gigantic theme park where human-like robots cater to the out-there whims of high-end patrons. The series is based on the 1973 movie of the same name, which starred Yul Brynner.
The Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church comedy Divorce, (Fridays on M-Net Edge, DStv 102 at 21:00) centres on a couple’s long and drawn out divorce.
Insecure, which airs Mondays on Vuzu AMP (DStv 103) at 22:00, tells the story of Issa Dee (Issa Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) who experience awkward and racial issues as modern-day African-Americans.
