This is what e.tv has up their sleeve for 2017

Johannesburg - e.tv has huge plans for 2017.  The free-to-air channel gave us a taste of what’s coming to our screens next year during an intimate press dinner.

Here are the 4 most exciting things that we found out:

New movies

Good news for fans of recent Hollywood blockbuster flicks - e.tv has secured new deals with major movie studios in Hollywood, which means fresher, new movie titles coming our way. They did add that viewers love the older, more nostalgic (and sometimes cheesy) trademark e.tv movies so those won’t disappear altogether.

More big international dramas coming

Looks like e.tv’s recent shift to add top-notch international dramas is working for them because in 2017, free-TV viewers will finally get to watch season 1 of How To Get Away With Murder (with Emmy winner Viola Davis), The Blacklist (with James Spader) and Shades Of Blue (with Jennifer Lopez). Plus, e.tv will air more seasons of Empire,  Devious Maids, Ray Donovan,  Mistresses and Zoo.

Local is lekker

Local telenovelas Ashes To Ashes and Gold Diggers are done. The channel’s new head of local content said they’re already working on an exciting new local telenovela and hinted that it will have familiar faces as well as “white dresses, wedding cakes and jail cells."

Openview is growing

Satellite platform OpenView is growing and now has over 500 000 subscribers. The platform recently added a 2nd movie channel called eMovies Extra.
