WATCH: Rihanna takes on iconic scream queen role

Cape Town – Rihanna has been hard at work filming Ocean's Eight and has also been cast in the final season of Bates Motel.

The singer will be playing the character made famous by Janet Leigh, Marion Crane from the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

Entertainment Weekly released the first pictures of Rihanna in character.

In the teaser posted by A&E Rihanna seeks a room in the dead of night in the pouring rain.

According to the network season five picks up almost two years later and finds Norman (Freddie Highmore), a grown man now living a double life. Publicly he’s a happy and well-adjusted member of the White Pine Bay community, but at home Norman struggles; his violent blackouts continue to increase as ‘Mother’ (Vera Farmiga) threatens to take over his mind completely.

The show premieres in the US on 20 February.
