Cape Town – A beautiful woman who cannot remember anything about herself, covered in tattoos emerges naked from a duffel bag in the middle of Times Square.
What's her story?
That's exactly what attracted Sullivan Stapleton to the hit series Blindspot currently showing on M-Net (DStv 101) on Wednesdays.
The Australian actor plays FBI agent Kurt Weller who is tasked to unravel the mystery of who she is.
"I was immediately drawn to the story, it's a great premise. It's not just your standard procedural each tattoo is another case which reveals more about the story. As the story enfolds you delve deeper into the characters' lives and who they truly are," said Stapleton during a telephone interview.
"And it's set in New York!" he adds.
In fact Stapleton says the city New York has played a big role in the series being an instant hit with viewers.
"The series has action and drama and a great setting. The city New York is a character itself and people are always drawn to it."
To get into character to play agent Kurt, he met with FBI agents.
"I'm an instinctual actor, I go with how the character reads on paper. I also met with FBI agents and discussed how they go about solving cases," he says.
Has anything about his character rubbed off on him?
He laughs: "I think we're similar is some ways. Professionally we're both focused on our jobs and doing it the best we can."
And if he were to meet his character in real life they would definitely become friends.
With the finale still to be screened on our screens all Stapleton would reveal is that it is exciting.
"It's a great finale, things start to unravel and it's all very exciting. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it."
Catch Blindspot Wednesdays at 20:30 on M-Net (DStv 101).
