Johannesburg – We attended The Voice SA finale at Sasani Studios in Johannesburg on Sunday night. Here’s everything that happened!
Here’s what we overheard:
Richard Stirton was crowned the first ever South African winner of The Voice. He walks away with a spectacular prize package worth more than R800 000.
His prize includes R200 000 cash from DialDirect, a brand new Fiat 500, lots of Samsung tech gear (including a smart TV), R100 000 worth of fashion from Truworths and of course that coveted recording contract with Universal Music South Africa.
Richard’s first single will drop in two weeks and he’ll be going on tour with The Parlotones. He’ll be putting his studies on hold for now and will go back to finish it someday.
Kahn says he is intimidated by Richard because he’s never had a number 1 hit on the charts and Richard has. (Read more about that here)
Richard’s music for the album will be a lot like the stuff he has done on the competition.
During the show, there was also some great news for Zoë Modiga, 22, and Thembeka Mnguni, 32. They were both offered recording contracts by Universal Music South Africa!
The finale was rocked by a massive voting glitch. (Read all about that here)
Season 2 is on the cards but the final details still need to be confirmed.
