Johannesburg - The Voice SA’s much-anticipated live shows are here!

From this week Sunday, 17 April, the voting public will also have a say when the incredible singers who have wowed coaches Karen Zoid, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lira and Kahn Morbee thus far take to the stage at Sasani Studios in Balfour Park, Johannesburg.

How will the first two live shows work?

This week, sixteen of the 32 talent – four from each coach – will have the opportunity to impress their respective coaches and the voting public, while the remaining sixteen will perform the following week.

After each coach’s team has had their time to shine live on stage, the coach will save one of these four singers who will then have a guaranteed spot in the next round of the competition. After that, the fate of the three remaining singers who did not nab the coach’s save will be in the hands of The Voice SA fans. Viewers will be asked to vote for the voice they would like to keep in the show – and the one from each team who garners the most votes among the remaining three will then proceed to the next round. This result will be revealed at the beginning of the following week’s show.

This means that two singers from each coach will remain in the game after this week’s live show and two more after the following week’s performances. Voting will open during each of these live shows and close for the week’s performances on Thursdays at 22:00.

How to vote

Viewers will be able to vote on several platforms, including SMS, WeChat, mobile, The Voice SA website and The Voice SA App, and all of the voting details, including the talent’s voting numbers, will be shared during the live shows. All of the voting rules and terms and conditions will also be made available on The Voice SA website – www.mnet.tv/thevoice

"The Voice SA is an exciting and fresh new format for South African viewers and it’s important that fans familiarise themselves with the way in which voting works," says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. "This feel-good show, in which the competition is also on among the coaches, is all about vocal ability, and you will be able to save one person from each team in this week’s show. So do make sure your favourite in each team is saved for the next round."

In the end, after cutting down the talent in each team week after week, each coach will go into The Voice SA finals with one team member only.

Here's who will perform this Sunday

#TeamKaren’s Jono Grayson, Marcel de Almeida, Nadine Sisam and Thembeka Mnguni.

#Team Bobby’s Gavin Edwards, Lana Crowster, Nolene Olivier and Xanilee Hammond.

#Team Lira’s Busiswe Mutlaka, Meyrand Roux, Robin Pieters and Zoë Modiga.

#Team Kahn’s Clemour, Eden Myrrh, El Clay and Richard Stirton.

Apart from the all-important performances from The Voice SA talent, viewers will also be entertained by a variety of special acts  – from leading choirs, to popular bands and esteemed vocal artists. In the first live show the Mzansi Youth Choir will show-off their incredible harmonies.

The Mzansi Youth Choir was established in July 2003 with the aim of allowing gifted underprivileged teenagers and young adults to perform locally and abroad. The choir consists of 45 choristers from Soweto and other areas in and around Johannesburg and is well-known for they way they blend elements of traditional music, pop and jazz.
