SA cooks try to keep it cool in a very hot kitchen.

MasterChef South Africa sees a group of amateur cooks compete for the biggest prize ever offered in a local reality series - R8m worth of prizes!

Over the next 18 weeks the contestants will take part in a boot camp and compete in various challenges to see who is South Africa's next MasterChef.

The series was filmed at Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl over three months and, according to the show's publicist, one challenge required more than three tons of onions!

Chefs Pete Goffe-Wood, Benny Masekwameng and Andrew Atkinson will be guiding the budding cooks through the gruelling tasks.

The finale will take place on July 17.

Premieres March 20

Tuesdays at 19:30

M-Net (101) and M-Net HD (170)
