Cape Town – The new zombie television series is making its South African debut on Top TV this week.

The Walking Dead, an original AMC production, made its US debut on October 31 and will air in South Africa on Top TV from Tuesday November 2.

The show will also make its debut in 120 countries this week.

The debut episode saw 5.3 million viewers tune in on Sunday night, making it AMC's largest audience for an original series yet.

The series takes place in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse where former policeman Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) and other survivors fight to stay alive long enough to find a new home.  The series is based on Robert Kirkman's comic book of the same name.

The Walking Dead premieres on Fox FX Channel 110 on Top TV on Tuesday November 2 at 21:20.
