AKA: The next 5 years are crucial

Johannesburg - It seems like AKA is everywhere! On the billboards, on our TV sets, and all over our radio.

Speaking to Tbo Touch on Metro FM's The Touchdown, AKA says he has to keep busy because the next five years hold the key to his future.

"I believe that I have to keep as busy as possible at this stage of my life. I'm 27-years-old right now. The next five years are going be the most crucial of my life. Everything is working out well for me. I'm not thinking 10 years. I don't want to think too far," he says.

He says the past year has been "the most groundbreaking" of his life, and credits his new focus on the birth of his daughter, Kairo.

"The birth of my daughter has made me more focused. I have this tunnel vision now. Recently, one of the most powerful things that I've discovered is to free yourself from validation, from craving praise. I said this in an interview the other day. I don't particularly want to know what you think about my music anymore, because I know it's great. I'm motivated by just being a better version of myself than I was yesterday," he adds.

Let's hope that focus will see him make more hits and less headlines...
