Johannesburg - AKA and The Soil were nominated in the Best African Act at the BET Awards.
But Ghana's Stonebwoy has walked away with the prize.
The announcement was made at a pre-awards ceremony before the big show, which is set to begin in a few hours.
AKA took the loss in his stride, thanking fans for their support and wishing the winner well.
We didn't take it but thank you for all your love and support. ??
