AKA loses MTV EMA award to Diamond Platnumz

Johannesburg - Sorry, Doro Mega fans! AKA has missed out on the MTV EMA award.

Mzansi's AKA was nominated for the prestigious Best African Act at this year's EMA awards to be held next weekend in Milan, Italy. (Read more about that here) But MTV announced on Thursday that AKA had lost out to Tanzanian mega star, Diamond Platnumz.

"MTV today revealed that Diamond Platnumz is the winner of the 2015 MTV EMAs Best African Act. Scores of music fans visited mtvema.com to vote for Diamond Platnumz, who beat incredible competition from AKA, Yemi Alade, Davido, and DJ Arafat," a statement from the station read.

And now they want the whole of Africa to vote for Diamond to beat the competition in India, to win a Best African/Indian Act Award at the ceremony.

It's a bitter blow for much of Mzansi, but at least AKA can console himself with the two AFRIMMA awards he won in Dallas last weekend (more on that here), right?
