AKA: 'I woke up feeling very unappreciated'

Johannesburg - While the whole of Mzansi was lifting their glasses of champers to this year's MTV MAMA nominees on Thursday, there was one rapper who must have felt like he got a bit short changed.

Fans were shocked when local hip hop giant AKA was not nominated in the Best Hip Hop category and made their anger and confusion known on social media.

After the snub, AKA took to his preferred method of rant, Twitter, to simply tweet "Composure" and "Thank You MTV base Africa for my MAMA nominations".

But, like most things, it was the feeling the morning-after that stung the most.

He returned to the platform on Friday to tweet:

Woke up feeling very confused and feeling very unappreciated. Over the last year, I tried my best. Some things are beyond my control ??

It's all a little heartbreaking and something they could make a hollywood boy-beats-the-odds blockbuster out of, but he might be able to find some consolation in the fact that he was the only SA nominee at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

We wonder if he needs a hug? 'Cause we're totes offering!
