AKA optimistic about the future of African musicians

Johannesburg- AKA seems to be throwing all his energy into his career, and focusing on the positive.

It's no secret that the rapper has had a rough two months, and has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

But there has also been some really positive things happening in the musician's career.

The All Eyes on Me star is preparing to jet off to Milan this Thursday, where he will be representing SA on an international platform yet again at the MTV EMAs.

And, it seems like he's really excited.

AKA took to Instagram where he opened up about how his perspective changed when he started travelling, and meeting other artists from the continent.

"Not only did I realise how much we all had in common, but also how much I had to be grateful for," AKA wrote.

The rapper added that he's incredibly proud to represent his country, against some of the best artists on the continent.

All the best AKA!

You know, a lot of my perspective changed when I started traveling around the continent and the world. Not only did I realize how much we all had in common, but also how much I had to be grateful for. I look at the artists I'm nominated against at these award shows and it really makes me proud to know that I am representing my own country alongside the biggest artists not only in Africa, but in the world. Yes, award shows don't define you, but to constantly be counted amongst the finest our continent has to offer makes me really optimistic about my future and the stature of SA music right now. As you know, Afro beat is arguably the biggest genre right now when it comes to how the world "hears" African music .... So for someone who is considered a "Hip Hop" artist, to constantly be in the running for these type of awards, it says a lot about my fans, and the music .... The most important two things to ANY artist ?? Voting.mobo.com ?? .... Bless! ??
