Carol Tshabalala on the NBA Draft and winning over the boys

Johannesburg - The first lady of sport in Mzansi, Carol Tshabalala has been invited by the NBA to attend the NBA draft later this week and she cant wait!

"I'm excited. I'm a huge fan of South African basketball and a big fan of the NBA," Carol tells The Juice.

It will be the first time that Carol has attended the prestigious NBA draft, having attended three NBA All-Star Weekends previously.

"What I love about the draft is you get a chance to see all the young talent coming through, all the future stars," she says. And as a Miami Heat fan, Carol hopes the franchise will get a good pick this year.

Carol says she is grateful that her love for basketball, and sports in general, has allowed her to follow her dream of the sports presenting.

"The sad thing is that the industry is still very male-orientated and my colleagues ,15 years later, are still almost all male. I think that's why I stand out in," she says.

"Starting out it was real difficult because men thought they owned the sports, so to see a young black woman present and comment on sport with authority was hard for them. I was often questioned about how credible I was. I just hope one day we will be able to see more woman in the industry," she adds.
