Cassper Nyovest: "I make award-winning music"

Cassper Nyovest has proven that he is big enough to compete with the big guns. The rapper received five nominations for the Channel O Africa Music Awards. These include Most Gifted Male Video, Most Gifted Newcomer Video and Most Gifted Video of the Year for “Doc Shebeleza”. In some of these categories, he is competing against huge artists like Davido, K.O, AKA and Wizkid.

Speaking about his nominations, he told The Juice: "I'm probably gonna take Best Newcomer, but I wanna take all five. I don't see why I should be nominated for something that I shouldn't win, but they probably have to give other guys awards. I'll probably walk away with four."

He said he's very happy to be nominated and glad that Channel O has recognised the work he's putting in. "The things is, I'm a very confident artist and some people don't understand that, some people do. But I make award-winning music. I'll always have the big awards, I'll always take everything. The most surprising was Best Male. It felt like maybe people don't see what I'm doing," he said, adding that he doesn't want to spoil the moment by sounding arrogant.

What happens if he doesn't win? He said: "I'd be happy because I'm a fan of the music before I'm a musician. So, of Wizkid wins, I'm fan of Wizkid so there's no reason why I shouldn't be happy for my favourite artist."
