Johannesburg - Cassper goes to prison. But it's not what you think it is! You see, the rapper was just visiting.
It seems like one of the trademarks of hip hop is a rapper's fascination with people in prison. Often rappers, worldwide, will write flows about their 'hommies in prison' and occasionally even perform for them.
And that's exactly what local rapper Cassper Nyovest did this week when he visited the Baviaanspoort Maximum Correctional Facility in Pretoria.
Apparently the prisoners were given the opportunity to vote on their favourite artist, with the chance that the artist would come perform for them. Cassper won the vote and agreed to perform for the inmates.
Taking to Twitter after the visit, Cassper says meeting the prisoners has changed his life!
Just performed Baviaanspoort correctional center at the maximum prison&my life has been changed. Those homies told me my music give em hope.

I feel like Pac foreal. How these niggas know the songs, I don't know. They voted to get artists to come perform for them and got me.

I don't care about anything more than I care about the positive impact that my music has. If I can give niggas in prison hope, I'm humbled.

Forget Doc Shebeleza, We wonder if Cassper performed Jailhouse Rock?
