Cassper breaks records with new single

The hip hop beef that's been stewing between AKA and Cassper  just won't go away! Yesterday Cassper was on radio telling The Juice and heat that he thinks AKA is a snake and that he prefers to let his music do the talking. Well Cassper might just be making good on that promise. Yesterday his latest single was downloaded more than a 170 000 times in it's first day alone.

The feud between two of South Africa's best rappers was always going to be settled on iTunes and download charts once their highly anticipated albums dropped. But when AKA got to number one on the iTunes hip hop chart on pre-orders alone and then released his album Levels straight to the number one spot on iTunes, you'd think AKA had won the battle.

Now, only a few days after AKA's achievements, Cassper has hit back with a new single Phumakim, the last taste of Cassper before his album, Tsholofelo is released  at the end of the month.

The single, which includes the lines "I'm AKA's favourite rapper, I made it on the Forbes list", was given away as a thank you to his fans and was downloaded 15 000 times in the first minute, reaching 100 000 downloads within 3 hours.

Those are incredible numbers, but how would they have fared on the iTunes chart? We spoke to Cassper yesterday and he told The Juice that it only takes 40 000 downloads to get to the top of the iTunes chart! A fact? Or a thinly-veiled swipe at AKA's success?

All we know is that AKA won't be calling to "congratulate" Cassper on this achievement any time soon...
