Cosatu calls for public to boycott Generations

The federation has called for the entire country to stop watching the hit soapie for one week.

It's been three weeks since 16 principal members of the cast were fired after they refused to return to work during a strike. The actors' are demanding higher salaries, three-year contracts, pension funds, medical aids and royalty payments.

For weeks it's been a mud-slinging battle between the actors', SABC bigwigs and producers of the soapie, but there seems to be no resolution in sight.

At this moment, creator Mfundi Vundla is soaking up the sun on an island holiday to "de-stress and think about the new Generations."

Before Mfundi left, he made it crystal clear that he could not work with the 16 actors as the relationship was completely broken.

Now Cosatu is saying that they will fight the public broadcaster and demand transformation in the industry. They've explained that it was not just about the soapie anymore.

The 16 actors include: Anga Makubalo (MJ), Atandwa Kani (Samora), Katlego Danke (Dineo), Mandla Gaduka (Choppa), Menzi Ngubane (Sibusiso), Nambitha Mpulwana (Mawande), Patrick Shai (Patrick), Slindile Nodangala (Ruby), Sophie Ndaba (Queen), Seputla Sebogodi (Kenneth), Thami Mnqolo (Senzo), Thato Molamu (Nicholas), Winnie Ntshaba (Khetiwe), Zenande Mfenyana (Nolunthu), Zikhona Sodlaka (Priska) and Zolisa Xaluva (Jason).
