Deborah Fraser: 'The gospel industry is dirty'

Johannesburg - Deborah Fraser is one of the country's gospel heavyweights. Of all of her albums that have been released, not one has sold less than 100 000 copies. Yet, the singer says that the the industry, in particular, the gospel industry, is the 'dirtiest' of them all.

Move! recently interviewed the star, who admitted to feeling neglected by the industry as a whole. "I don't know what changed but it still affects me. I still do great things in the industry. I'm still the same Deborah, but nobody really wants to involve me in what they do."

While Deborah is clearly sad about the isolation, she's also angry, hitting out at industry role-players. "The gospel industry is not as pure as it seems. In fact, it's the dirtiest of them all. There's so much jealousy and politics and people don't practise what they preach," she told the mag.

Ah, Deborah. We'll always love you.
