Fashion: 5 minutes with Roxy Burger

We were introduced to the bubbly blonde from her KTV days. Since then she has been making waves in not just the media industry with her latest Top Billing gig, but fashion too. Last year she and her partner launched the online Oh ONe One store.

We chatted to Roxy Burger about everything fashion...

You have always been known as a personality/presenter in the media industry. Why did you decide to take on this fashion project a year ago?

I have always loved fashion and decided to take my "hobby" and make it more than that. I am also pretty entrepreneurial, having owned a bridal gown business prior to this. My experience in retail led me in the direction of eCommerce, which I believe is the future of shopping.

We understand that you and your partner collaborate on the store. What is the extent of your creative involvement in selecting products?

My business partner and stylist, Sarah Mitchell, is our Style Director but we work closely in the buying phase of the process. She is the trend forecaster and analyst and we do make sure that our clothes are a representation of who we both are as individuals.

Why the name Oh One One?

For obvious reasons: we both grew up in Joburg and this city is a part of who we are. With Sarah living in London, we are both city girls and love it that way. It also encapsulates what our brand is and stands for.

How would you describe your personal style?

Eclectic. I always seem to give my outfits a little bit of an edge or a "quirk" as such. I can go from something clean and sophisticated to funky and indie in a heart beat. I think I also read situations well and dress according to the environment I find myself in.  Sarah and I called it the "OhOneOne edge" - we are always looking for something different.
