Viewers seem to be taking forever to warm up Generations: The Legacy.
The show faced a lot of drama last year after firing 16 actors. It came back with a different look in December but SA is kinda not feeling it. There are apparently many factors causing the soapie's poor performance. They include load shedding and the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which is currently taking place in Equatorial Guinea.
The Citizen newspaper quoted SABC's group executive for television, Verona Duwarkah, as saying: "It is not doing as great as it was previously." She added that it was difficult to determine the exact revenue and viewership figures of Generations: The Legacy because it had been on air for close to two months now.
Verona was speaking at a media briefing held in Auckland Park, Johannesburg.
SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng told reporters: "Generations may not do well but we believe it will improve. We are able to generate revenue here, but I cannot tell you how."
