Graca Machel: "It's still too early to live with the reality that Madiba is no more."

Graca Machel's heart is growing heavier as the first anniversary of Nelson Mandela's death approaches. The former president died on 5 December at his Houghton home.

According to SAPA, Graca said: "The more we approach the month of December, my heart is getting heavier and heavier. It is still too early to live with the reality that Madiba is no more." Graca was speaking at the launch of a Mandela Remembrance Walk that will take place on 13 December in Pretoria.

According to SAPA, Graca said was important to keep Mandela's memory alive for future generations and remind them "there was a time where we had leaders, a collective leadership which went ahead and mobilised all of us... when it comes to fight for freedom."

Plans for the state to mark the anniversary of Madiba's death are reportedly underway.
