Here's why Friday night at Oppi was the best night EVER!

This weekend thousands of music fans from around the country descend on the dusty roads of Limpopo to catch some of their favourite local and international bands take the stage at Oppikoppi. Here are the moments that made Friday night at Oppi the BEST NIGHT EVER!

Oppikoppi always knows how to give us a good time and Friday night was no exception. In fact, it proved to be the most fun we've done on a Friday since that time we decided to have a late night jump off the roof and into the pool! Here's the moment that made our Oppi so far!

The "That's how you festival" moment: Van Coke Kartel on The Dome Stage

Local rock legends Van Coke Kartel showed us why Oppikoppi is the best music festival in South Africa. For their Friday headline set they pulled a crowd to rival any music festival in the world. There were fans as far as the eye could see (even flag waving fans, nogal).

The "best dressed" or "oh, well, that's a bit awks" moment: Springbok Nude Girls

After playing at the first ten Oppikoppi music festivals, Arno and the boys from the Springbok Nude Girls made a return for Oppi's 20th year anniversary. Problem is no one told them the dress code.... so they pitched up in dresses! Hilarious!

The "King of the Hill" moment: The Red Bull Stage

The Red Bull stage is probably the best placed stage, at the foot of a small hill that is intimate enough that if you want to dance you can dance, but if you want to sit and relax on the hill overlooking the stage you can. Think of it like an amphitheater of Bass! Hellz Yeah!

The "I think you might have had a bit too much" moment: To the boys who protected their "balloon child"

You know it's been a long day, or a long couple of days, when a group of guys, in the middle of the crowd, start building a nest for a balloon they caught and then defend it with their lives, shouting at strangers who dare disturb their "child".

The "you only came to get gifts crowd" moment: PHFAT

Local rap/dance trio PHFAT are super talented but they remind us of white Skhothanes. Their high energy set slowly descended into a give away party as they started giving away everything from T shirts to mansions in Nkandla. Okay! Maybe not mansions but they did give away Tshirts, CD's (Loads), skate boards and even a pair of Ray Bans. It was like Oprah decided to start a band! Bonus!

The "Still Killing it" moment: HHP

HHP may have been a bit quiet lately, but he showed us on Friday night why he's still one of the best rappers this country has ever produced. His set was electrifying with him belting out some of his best and most loved raps. We loved it and can't wait to hear what he does with Teko soon.
