Assault charges against George Lebese dropped

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese can sleep a little easier after assualt charges against him were dropped on Wednesday.

According EWN, the assault charges were withdrawn by the public prosecutor after several delays in the trial.

Lebese faced assault charges after he allegedly beat up his then girlfriend Sizakele Mangona during an argument in February.

There is some confusion after reports surfaced that George may have entered into a plea agreement with the state, and was handed a diversion program with the promise to work 80 hours of community service.

But for today, George is a free man.
