ICYMI: Maggie Benedict’s theft case postponed

Johannesburg- It seems Maggie will have to wait until next month to hear her fate, after her shop lifting case was postponed yesterday at the Randburg Magistrates Court.

The Ashes to Ashes actress pleaded not guilty after she was accused of stealing a packet of Panado tablets worth R17.90 at Checkers in Cresta Mall in 2013. She claims she bought the pills three weeks before she was arrested and kept them in her bag as she often had headaches.

According to Daily Sun, Maggie’s representative, Advocate WC Carstens asked the court to acquit her of her charge, claiming the state failed to prove its case.

However, on the other hand, Prosecutor Yusuf Baba reportedly insisted that Maggie should be found guilty. “Three weeks after they were bought, the pills were still sealed, yet she suffers frequent headaches,” he said.
