ICYMI: Officials: 'Oscar not getting 'special' treatment'

The Department of Correctional Services has rubbished reports that Oscar Pistorius and Radovan Krejcir are being treated like royalty in prison.

This comes hot-on-the-heels of a video obtained by Daily Sun of the two inmates enjoying a game of soccer in civilian clothes earlier this week.

"The DCS wish to state that reports by the Daily Sun that the two inmates are 'treated like royalty' are incorrect and misleading. They are both not receiving special treatment," the department's Gauteng division said in a statement.

The statement further explained that Oscar and Radovan were allowed one hour of exercise a day and could wear sporting gear during that one hour.

It was also reported that the special treatment given to Oscar had angered other prisoners. But the department has attributed this information to certain officials leaking incorrect facts to the media.

The DCS has appealed to the media to stop publishing "misleading information."

Meanwhile, Oscar's appeal case is set to take place tomorrow at the  Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.
