Whoa! Is it almost time to bid farewell to Generations?
Well, according to Sowetan, President Jacob Zuma's daughter, Gugu Zuma, has reportedly been ropped in to produce a new drama to rescue the SABC after 16 Generations actors were fired. Dudu, who just completed an internship with US movie maker Tyler Perry, is apparently hard at work in KwaZulu-Natal creating a show called Uzalo. The paper claims that industry insiders believe that the show will replace Generations.
The show is reportedly commissioned for over 300 episodes and is expected to have soapie and drama appeal. People close to Uzalo refused to comment about the show, which is expected to feature some familiar faces from Generations and new stars. Sowetan reported that Uzalo was planned to go on air in January 2015, but with the drama at Generations, their source said the show might be on screen soon.
An SABC executive shot down the claims that Generations would be replaced. She told the paper that there are plans to have the popular soapie refreshed with new story lines and faces. "It's back to the drawing board. The crew is hard at work finding new ways with brainstorming sessions," the source said.
