Whoa! Time really flies. One of SA's most loved soapies, Isidingo, is celebrating its 4000th episode this evening.

The SABC soapie, which first aired in 1998, has gained a huge following not only in SA, but in countries like Tanzania and Uganda.

"It is an immense proud moment and a remarkable milestone which we are delighted to have reached. For 4000 episodes Isidingo has entrenched itself as a credible show with stories that relate to South African society by encompassing the ideal of one nation viewing. We hope to entertain fans for many years to come," said Sivan Pillay, MD of Endemol SA.

The 4000th episode celebrates the hard work of all the cast and crew who have contributed in the success of the show.

Pumla Hopa, executive producer of the show, has been with Isidingo since the first episode. She thanked the SABC3 and viewers for their continued support. "We are very proud to have reached this milestone. We love being part of the South African TV landscape and being able to have a positive influence in people’s lives on a daily basis. The journey has been exciting and we look forward to continue participating as a major contributor in the narrative of South Africa as we continue growing as a country."
