Itu gives up the captains armband... for now

Itumeleng Khune may be back from injury, but that doesn't mean he's ready to come back as captain.

According to Kickoff, Itu has decided to give up the captaincy of Kaizer Chiefs until he is fully fit and a regular in the squad.

Itu made his return to competitive football this past weekend against Township Rollers, a match where defender Tefu Mashmaite captained the side. After the match Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter revealed that Itu had told the squad he thought Tefu should carry on with the captaincy.

"It was a nice touch by Itu in the squad meeting," says Stuart."He said he thinks that Mashamaite should retain the armband".

"We had a talk. Me and Itu and we agreed that this would be the best solution that 'Masha' should continue with the captaincy until he is 100 percent and back as a regular," Stuart added.
