Johannesburg - It's no secret that Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Simba Mhere were more than just friends - they were as close as brothers.
And, to honour this bond and celebrate Simba's life, Jonathan and Jay have made his death day their anniversary.
The lovebirds sat down with YOU magazine recently to talk about their romance, and how important Simba was to helping them find love.
"A week before Simba's death we went away to Magaliesberg. She (Jay) was there and we were playing tennis one day. Simba was singing a song of us falling in love," Jonathan recounts.
"He'd always ask, 'How's Jay? What happened to Jay?' I'd reply I was too scared to be in a relationship with her - she's the one person who will tame the beast," he laughs.
It was because Simba meant so much to both of them, that the couple have decided to set an important date in their relationship to coincide with their friend's death.
"We made Simba's death (31 January) our anniversary. He's the one who brought us together," the couple revealed.
Aww.
