KO: "The HIV rumours hurt me but It's made me stronger"

A couple of months ago rapper KO was caught in the middle of a controversial storm over his HIV status. As the rapper's weight dropped, there were rumours that he was sick with HIV. He denied the claims and even took a public HIV test to prove them wrong.

Such hectic rumours would make any of us upset, but when The Juice spoke to him this week, he revealed that the whole fiasco has made him a stronger person.

"I don't mind talking about it," he tells us. "It's a situation I really appreciated because it allowed me to show people that they were wrong about me". He believes the rumours were made up by haters who just wanted to discredit his name ahead of the release of his hit single Caracara. "I was releasing Caracara at the time and there were people who weren't happy with the song just because it came from me," he says.  "They don't like you. They don't even know you, but they don't like you".

He explains that the weight loss was from working hard at the gym - but that it wasn't enough for some people who "decided to take that and turn it into a situation and see if they could kill any potential the song had."

"It hurt me," he says. "And that's why I decided to clear the air and take a public test. But the whole thing turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The exposure maximised the chances of the song growing. I never thought it would grow the way it did, but I think the rumours helped hype it up and got people listening to the single", he adds.
