Khaya Mthethwa made a mistake while accepting his award at the recent Crown Gospel Awards - he forgot to thank 'everyone'. According to Sunday Sun, the singer, who won in the Best Contemporary category, has angered KZN community radio stations for not mentioning them in his 'thank you' speech. Khaya thanked Ukhozi FM for supporting his music career. Now, community radio stations demand an apology from Khaya. A station manager told Sunday Sun if the singer doesn't apologise he will get no airplay.
Chairman of KZN Community Radio Stations, Simone Ntsele, told the paper that Khaya's music could be banned if he doesn't apologise. "It's so sad that Khaya forgot about us. We also deserved to be recognised for our contribution. Does he want to tell us that none of our 8,6 million listeners voted for him?"
Khaya told Sunday Sun: "I was really excited but I hadn't prepared a speech. I'd like to let all radio stations know that I take full responsibility and I retract what I said. I love and appreciate all radio stations equally and am grateful for all the support."
