Kelly Khumalo: "Senzo was going to marry me"

A devastated Kelly Khumalo has spoken out about the love she and Senzo Meyiwa felt for each other.

The soccer star, who was shot and killed outside the singer's Vosloorus  home on 26 October, was laid to rest on Saturday after receiving a state funeral in Durban.

Kelly told the Sunday Times that Senzo's heart belonged to her and that he was going to marry her. "I have never been loved by anyone the way Senzo loved me," she said.

During an in-depth interview with the paper, the singer also poured her heart out about the moments leading up to Senzo's death and how happy they were together. Kelly also revealed that Senzo had planned to leave Mandisa and marry her. She claims it was all the soccer star spoke about before his death.

"I don't even know what to say but God will fight on my behalf. Senzo's family never loved me to begin with," she said.

"But all I know is that Senzo loved me and that he wanted to be apart of my life and I wanted to be apart of his life and I will always honour and respect his spirit. What people think of me is not important," she added.
