Khanyi Mbau: "Living rich was the loneliest time of my life"

Things seem to be looking up for SA's Queen of Bling. She's on Strictly Come Dancing, hosts her own talk show and appears on etv's Ekasi Stories. But for some reason her past life is still a hot topic. She recently opened about to bona.co.za about her life.

She described her past life as a "pretty prison" adding that she was a hero to some people, but dead inside. "Men bought me fancy things and everything I wanted, but I paid for it with my life. That's a part of me I can never replace. Living rich was honestly the loneliest time of my life," she said.

She believes that motherhood has made her realistic and sober. "I try to protect my daughter from the negative things she hears about me as best as I can."

Khanyi was only 18 when she found fame and money. Her priorities have since changed as she has grown. "Now I work like every other South African. I go to work in the morning, get paid a salary at the end of the month and I pay my tax," she told the site.

Way to go, Khanyi!
