Lesedi FM DJ in hijack drama

Johannesburg - Popular radio personality Lerato Mpopo is recovering after being manhandled and forced into a boot during a hijacking this past weekend.

According to Sowetan, the Lesedi FM DJ, popularly known as DJ Lovers, and his wife were held at gunpoint outside their Bloemfontein home on Sunday night.

Police have confirmed the incident and say that Lerato and his wife were unpacking stuff from the car when the hijacking took place.

"Three males were armed with guns accosted them. Mpopo was hit with a firearm in the forehead and they were both bungled into the boot of their Polo Vivo," Bloemfontein police spokesperson Lt-Colonel Thandi Mbambo says.

The pair were dropped off a while after in a small town 68 km away from Bloemfontein. The car was later recovered in Lesotho.

No arrests have been made.
