Lloyd Cele: The theatre star!

Johannesburg - Lloyd Cele is all set to take the theatre world by storm.

Lloyd has been cast to play the lead role in an upcoming musical, Let's Get It On: The Life & Music of Marvin Gaye, which pays tribute to the star.

"I feel really honoured and privileged to have been chosen for this role," Lloyd told The Juice

Lloyd explained that he is a huge fan of Marvin Gaye's music, which he grew up listening to. "My grandfather was a huge fan of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, and even though I was too young to appreciate the message behind his music, I've always been a huge fan," he added.

Lloyd explained that people can expect to get to know Marvin on an intimate level and be inspired by every trial and tribulation he faced in life.

"Over the past few weeks, I've been inspired by the way he sings from his heart. It gives me goosebumps, and he's introduced me to the spiritual side," Llyod said.

The RnB star says that fans should not panic, because he's not planning to quit music any time soon for a career in theatre, but if the opportunity presents itself to do more theatre shows-  he will grab it with both arms.

"It's my first theatre show and I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure there's going to be challenges but I usually just dive right in," he says.

Lloyd is also working on a new single, Best I've Heard which you can expect to hear in the next two weeks.

Catch Lloyd live on stage from 7 May until 16 May at the Joburg Theatre. Visit www.joburgtheatre.com for more information.
