Johannesburg- Trevor Noah's highly-anticipated The Daily Show debuted in the US on Monday night, and was received with critical acclaim.
While highly skeptical at first, pundits have described his first appearance as a 'smooth transition.' Trevor made sure to give thanks to outgoing host, Jon Stewart, saying that he will continue the fight against bullshit.
He also poked fun at the naysayers, who questioned how the world would cope without Jon, adopting a similar self-deprecation attitude to that of his predecessor, but ulitmately asking Americans to give him a chance.
South Africans have been counting down to the show for months now, and finally we got our chance last night when the show was aired on Comedy Central.
Needless to say, our homegrown guy received applause from local celebrities, all inspired by what Trevor has managed to achieve.
From Basetsana Kumalo to Bonang Matheba and Black Coffee, Trevor has been hailed a national hero. On the day that the show aired, South Africans celebrated National Trevor Noah day, but as he faces each hurdle, success and is in the center of international stardom, we reckon it might just be the Trevor Noah Decade.
