Lupita Nyong'o fights against elephant poaching

Johannesburg - Oscar winning actress and global superstar, Lupita Nyong'o has added her voice to calls to stop elephant poaching.

Lupita left Mzansi just over a week ago (read more about her visit HERE) and is currently in Kenya fighting the good elephant fight!

You see, the 12 Years a Slave actress was this week announced as an elephant ambassador for wildlife conservation organisation, WildAid.

“I have come to realize that when you know more‚ you do more," Lupita said in a statement.

"I want to encourage people all over the world to learn more about these incredible animals. I ask the world to end the current elephant poaching crisis by being ‘Ivory Free.’ It is time to ban sales of ivory worldwide and to consign the tragedy of the ivory trade to history,” she added.

And just to prove how serious she's taking her new role (or how bad ass she is), she even posed with a giant wild elephant!

Careful that thing doesn't eat you, Lupita! We hear they like twigs!
