Maggie Benedict says she's no thief

Yoh! It's seems it's the whole world versus Maggie at the moment.

The actress was accused of stealing a R17.90 packet of headache tablets last year but, according to Move, Maggie Benedict took to Facebook recently to set the record straight.

"I have refrained from making any statement regarding my arrest at Checkers in Cresta", she says, adding later "I'd like to set the record straight".

Maggie was released on a warning on the night of her arrest, having spent a few hours in the holding cells at Linden Police station, but maintains her innocence.

"Every item in my possession was paid for, including the tablets I'd purchased weeks earlier that were still unopened," she says, adding " I could not provide a receipt because I'm blessed to have R17.90 not be an expenditure I need to keep track of".

She says the state has asked her to lie and say she did it so that the whole thing can be resolved quicker, but she has refused.
