Johannesburg - Listen up boys and girls, SA music isn't what it used to be!
That's what Mandoza told Reason when the pair got caught up in an "enlightening chat" recently. The Kwaito legend chewed Reason's ear off for over two hours recently and during that chat taught Reason a few truths about how "it used to be".
From stories of driving around with 70k (that's about as much as Cassper earns a month, right?) to shutting down malls to buy an outfit, Reason took to Twitter to share some of Mandoza's best memories and lessons.
#MyChatWIthMandoza taught me that nothing me and my peers are doing now is new. Everything they believe they did or do, has been done. Bigga

In #MyChatWIthMandoza i was schooled about a time in music when Brenda Fassie would shut down malls, just to buy an outfit.

In #MyChatWithMandoza i was educated about a time when artists used to drive around with 70k in the car just to avoid a bank clearance.

#MyChatWithMandoza made me realize that OUR money looks more, cause we buy more expensive products, when in actual fact we're making less.

I realized, We often look at the generation before us, & try capitalize on their mistakes, as if they didn't do the same. #MyChatWithMandoza

The only thing we can do differently to the previous guys... is prepare ourselves for failure and strive for longevity. #MyChatWithMandoza

#MyChatWithMandoza puts me on to the fact that Being the best forever is impossible.

#MyChatWithMandoza gave me perspective. You can learn from those that succeeded… but wait till you speak to those that survived failure.

It seems Reason's chat with Mandoza gave him a realisation of his own: Truth is…

Don't let their tweets make you believe their thoughts are the gospel. Their music is all they owe you.
