Turns out Oscar jokes cause Mass Hysteria
If you were attending the comedy show Mass Hysteria for the first time, you would be forgiven for thinking that the show was all about Oscar Pistorius.
"If comedy had a government this would be it" was the tag line for this years Nando's Mass Hysteria Comedy show. But it seems if there ever was a parliament of comedians all they would do is sit around all day poking fun at Oscar.
The comedy show, which sees some of South Africa's best comedians take the role of ministers, kicked off its Jo'burg leg at Monte Casino's Teatro on Thursday night to a near sold out crowd.
The folks that got to the show were entertained by jokes from the likes of John Vlismas, Nik Rabinowitz, Joey Rasdien and Chester Missing, on a range of topics from #BringBackOurGirls to the recent earth tremor which ran across much of the country.
But most of the night, Oscar Pistorius seemed to be the topic of conversation. Comedian Alan Committiee started of the night with a joke about Oscar winning an egg and spoon race (in a nod to Gerrie Nels comments about Oscar dropping the egg) and it only got worse from that point on for the athlete with comedian after comedian getting laughs at Oscar's expense.
Oi.
