More Dramz at the SABC: Generations stars are taking them to the cleaners for royalties

Rumour has it Generations soapie stars filed court papers at the Johannesburg High Court today against the public broadcaster, SABC, for 21 years worth of royalties.

The applicants are complaining that the SABC has not paid them since it started broadcasting the soapie in 1993.

Listed among the 13 applicants are current stars Sophie Ndaba (Queen) Katlego Danke (Dineo), Zolisa Xaluva (Jason), Menzi Ngubane (Sibusiso) and newer faces like Zikhona Sodlaka (Priska), Zenande Mfenyana (Noluntu) and Nambitha Mpumlwana (Mawande). However, City Press is reporting that a dozen or so more actors may join the application.

The actors were promised “payments in respect of commercial exploitation of their images and performances on Generations” and despite agreeing to the arrangement with the actors, the broadcaster has not made the payment.

Yoh! It seems like the drama at Generations just never ends!
