Music: Brett Newski - American Folk Armageddon

In a nutshell: A couple of years ago, American folk artist Brett Newski decided to pack it all up and move to Vietnam.  A few months after he came to SA to play at the White Mountain festival. In between it all he recorded dozens of folk tunes, some of which made it on his sophomore album American Folk Armageddon.

What’s it like: Like some of your favourite indie, folk and blues artists wrapped into one album. Brett has the ability to adapt to any kind of tempo to deliver a sound that is similar to some of the best voices in the genres to echo them while still maintaining his own. It's an adventure! From the Jack White sounding Dirt to the  more acoustic Gerard Way sound of No Anchor

Fave Bit: The Math. It's like listening to Bob Dylan teaching you math lessons. It's catchy, it's instant and it's cute. Who knew learning numbers would sound so awesome?!

Rating: American Folk Armageddon is an odyssey of some of the best sounds in indie, folk and blues. The albums sound is diverse enough that fans will enjoy their own kind of flavour on the album but strong enough to still stand alone as uniquely his. The sound can get a bit too much if you not a folk fan but non- folk fans will be wise enough to just skip to the parts they like  4/5
