In a nutshell: Producer Calvin Harris has been on fine form recently, releasing some killer hits with the likes of Example, Ellie Goulding, Ne-yo and Rihanna. So there's high hopes for his latest collaboration- a song called Blame with Soul singer John Newman
What’s it like: Like a chilled Sunday afternoon after waking from a nap. Calvin's tunes set a fresh feeling across the track that feels like it should run deeper than it first appears. Maybe a big part of this feeling is the emotion John Newman brings to the song. It feels like just the right combination between Calvin's laid back tunes and John's passionate vocals.
Fave Bit: A chorus which really shows the soulful strength of John Newman's voice. It's like a punch in the gut, taking your breath away!
Rating: Blame sounds like a song that has a big message to tell, but is lost in a beat that is so relaxed that it can't possibly take itself seriously. Still, it's such a great song that it will no doubt be blaring from the club as much as from the speakers in the lounge on a lazy afternoon. 4/5
