Music: Connell Cruise - Into the Wild

In a nutshell: Local boy Connell Cruise has just signed a 4 album record deal with American record label, Epic/Sony. He claims the international exposure that led to him getting the deal came from the release of his latest single Into the Wild. But is it that good?

What’s it like: An African-folk safari of sound. Into the Wild has a diverse sound that meshes loads of different sounds all  into one, but it's the folk sound that comes through strongest. Connel's voice is mesmerising as he makes us dance along to a beat that sounds distinctly African.

Fave Bit: A big sing along right near the end that sounds a little like something One Republic or The Fray would start.

Rating: It's not hard to see why Connell  has become hot property at the moment. His vocals are dreamy on Into the Wild and compliments an African sound that SA can be proud to export to the world!  4 /5
