In a nutshell: It's been a while since we heard from Maroon 5 but this week we got a first taste of the bands upcoming album, V. The lead single off the album, Maps, was released to loads of hype but after 20 years in the industry, do Adam and the boys still have what it takes to rule the number one spot?
What’s it like: A modern Maroon 5. That may sound stupid but Maps feels like the kind of song that only a mature Maroon 5 could release. It's edgy and catchy but feels comfortable in the hands of frontman Adam Levine and the rest of the guys. The band have been able to fuse their romantic pop sound with an electro undertone that keeps it relevant.
Fave Bit: An instrumental tease gives way to Adam's voice that is as exciting as seeing a friend that's been away. The chorus is infectious and in no time it had us singing "The map that leads to you!"
Rating: The best part of Maroon 5 is that they've been able to evolve their look and feel without really changing much. Maps sounds as fresh as any content on their debut Songs of Jane and that's a brilliant thing. 4/5
