4 of our favourite Mi Casa covers

Johannesburg – There are some songs that are so great that no one should ever attempt to redo them. Unless you're Mi Casa, then go ahead and work your magic.

This local band is not only known for creating original tracks that get us dancing, but they’ve proven that they know how to handle a cover or two.

So in honour of their ability to take something great and make it even better, we’ve listed four of our favourite Mi Casa covers.

1. Smooth Operator

It was the song that brought this band together – the very first song they performed live! Originally done by Sade (all hail Sade) this classic was released in 1984.

So if you don’t know the story, Dr Duda was on the decks at a party when Mo-T asked if he could join in on trumpet, J’Something then jumped on board on vocals and they performed Smooth Operator for the crowd. A month later Mi Casa was formed, and the rest is history.

2. Adorn You

Originally done by Miguel, it’s hard to think that anyone could give this sultry RnB classic a facelift, but J’Something once again showed us that he’s got what it takes when he performed it live on stage.

3. Hell Naw

Nasty C got both young and old bobbing along when he released his upbeat hip-hop track, Hell Naw. But J’Something proved that sometimes you just need to slow things down a bit, when he gave us his rendition of Nasty’s track in honour of Youth Day.

4. 7 Days

Craig David (remember him?) released 7 Days on his Born To Do It album in 2000. And even though we never really knew all the words, Mi Casa had no problem remembering them when they covered the track for their Youtube channel in 2013.
