5 cool things that happened at #SAMA22

Durban - We break down the five best moments from Saturday night’s South African Music Awards.

The stage has been cleared, we’ve danced the night away at the after (after) party and finally kicked off our shoes. In case you missed Saturday night’s Samas or just want to relive some of your favourite moments, here’s what went down.

1. Red carpet arrivals:

Year after year, the looks at the Samas never disappoint. And this time around, nothing was off limits. Of course, The Juice walked the red carpet to bring you all the show-stopping fashion. From bold to sheer and the thigh high slits, take a look at some of our favourite celeb looks here.

2. From car guard to Sama award winner:

Tresor moved to South Africa eight years ago, and found himself working as a car guard just to get by. And on Saturday night all his hard work, passion and determination paid off when he was awarded Best Pop Album at #Sama22.

Wow, we’re so proud!

3. Surprise collab between Nathi, Karlien van Jaarsveld and Niel Somers:

One of the most beautiful and heart warming moments from the night was when Nathi, Karlien and Niel joined forces for an unconventional and totally unexpected rendition of Nomvula. It was so weird but worked in the best way possible!

And Twitter agrees:

4. Thando and Somizi smooch!

Somizi announced that in support of 90% music he will become 90% straight. Well, just for a couple of minutes. And after flexing and showing off his meat print for all the world to see, Somizi pulled Thando closer and shared a passionate embrace.

We agree. We were never ready.

5. The shade:

What’s a little friendly banter between friends? The chemistry between the presenters was on fire. We couldn’t believe our ears when Khanyi Mbau referred to the award winners as “level four blessers".

Oh, and when Somizi tried to hit those high notes, Thando told him that he reminded her of Donald. We couldn’t look!

And then there was the questions surrounded Phat Joe's suspension. Whoo shem!
