5 things we learned from AKA and Bonang's Top Billing interview

Cape Town – The whole country was glued to their screens on Thursday evening for the most anticipated interview of the year.

Top Billing presenter Bonang Matheba had an exclusive interview with hip-hop star AKA in Los Angeles.

The pair were in the City of Angeles to attend the BET awards where AKA performed and was also nominated.

During a tour of the Grammy Museum and over some tacos for lunch AKA and Bonang talked about his rise to stardom and his legacy.

Aaaawww????

Ever the professional Bonang kept it strictly business but it was really hard to hide the chemistry between the two.

Here are five things we learned from the interview.

1. AKA has always been a bit of a show off

As a child he was musically inclined and used to dance for his parents and grandparents. He says he was a bit of a show off and he still is. His music journey started during his first year of high school when he got together with friends, wrote verses and made beats.

2. AKA is a big Kanye fan he even quotes him

His favourite Grammy moment was when Kanye won his first award. He quoted part of his speech: "Everybody wants to know what I'm going to do if I don’t win, I guess we'll never know."

3. He wants to be remembered for making people happy

AKA wants people to listen to his music and understand that he made people happy through his music. He wants to make people dance and think about themselves. He wants to uplift the African/South African mindset and empower people.

4. Bonang thinks AKA will win a Grammy

Bonang believes that AKA is one step away from winning a Grammy award.

5. And what does AKA do in his spare time?

When he is not working AKA likes to chill with his girlfriend at the house and just kick it….

#Awww
